A Visit to Paris
| 23rd-27th October, 2000 |
|
During the October half-term break we took advantage of a deal on Eurostar and visited Paris for five days. This was our second visit and we were just as impressed by it this time as we were when we first visited, a couple of years ago. We stayed at the Paris "Edinburgh Residence", now alas defunct, and enjoyed five star accommodation just off the Champs Elysee. Less luxurious was our means of transport which consisted of a three-day pass on the tourist buses and a four-day pass for the excellent Paris Metro. Travelling by Eurostar was great, in France, but tedious in England where it took us as long to travel London-Dover/Dover-London as it did to travel Calais-Paris/Paris-Calais despite the french leg of the journey being three times the distance. The photos are just arranged in date order and are of things that struck me at the time. Consequently there are quite a few shots of the Eiffel Tower since I was as gob-smacked by it this time as I was the first time I saw it ... not that I'm a pleb or anything! |
