A Visit to Copenhagen
5th-9th April , 2004

Easter 2004 and we decided to take advantage of EasyJet's new service to Copenhagen (København). It was was a hassle-free break with both flights being on time and taking less than the published time to complete. Also we were impressed by the Danish rail service, spending a good deal of time there on trains. It was a nine-minute transfer from Kastrup to København H and the Grand Hotel was literally just around the corner from the station.

We were a bit dismayed when we arrived to find that the Tivoli gardens did not open for another fortnight and that two of our days there were public holidays (Maundy Thursday and Good Friday), but we need not have worried - there was plenty to do.

We went to see Hamlet's castle at Elsinor (Helsingør) and the Viking museum at Roskilde which also has the cathedral where all the Danish kings are buried.

Although quite expensive, we enjoyed our first visit to a Scandanavian country and quite fancy going back to see it in better weather. We certainly had the whole range from snow on the Tuesday to brilliant sunshine on the Friday. With plenty to do and see it is a city we would definitely recommend.
