To quote JFK "ich bin ein Berliner". The October half-term holiday brought with it a short break to Berlin, again courtesy of EasyJet. Our hotel was in the west of the city, in the Kantstrasse - one of the First Western chain. It was both comfortable and convenient.

We really liked Berlin as a city. It reminded us somewhat of Paris, but more laid-back. Their public transport system is first rate and a three-day pass enabled us to use the buses and underground at will. This was fortunate since we discovered that most of the "tourist" sites were located in the east of the city.

On the Sunday we spent most the day walking and discovering that the city is pretty big! After that we decided transport was a necessity and started taking the bus. The weather was great and our abiding memory will be the trees, which were at their autumnal best. This is definitely a city to re-visit.
